§ 14-59. Running at large.

Latest version.
  • The county may by resolution annually prohibit the running at large of dogs in all or any designated portion of the county during such term as they may designate, not to exceed 30 days, nor during any hunting season when dogs can be used in hunting. The county may also require that the dogs be confined or restricted or penned up during such periods, except within the Towns of Kenbridge and Victoria which may, by ordinance, establish their own confinement periods as such towns deem necessary. For the purpose of this division, a dog shall be deemed to run at large while roaming, running or self-hunting off the premises of its owner or custodian and not under its owner's or custodian's immediate control. Any person who permits his dog to run at large, or remain unconfined, unrestricted or penned up shall be deemed to have violated the provisions of this division.
